Penn State Wilkes-Barre Offers Women in the Sciences & Engineering (WISE) Program for Girls in Grades 6-8 - July 29-31
Penn State Wilkes-Barre is proud to present its fourth Women in the Sciences and Engineering (WISE) program for young women currently in grades 6-8. This program, funded by Procter and Gamble's Live, Learn and Thrive Grant, will be held on campus at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and led by Timothy Sichler, Penn State Instructor in Engineering.
Created at Penn State in 1994, The WISE Institute represents an innovative approach to cross disciplinary interaction among engineers, humanists, scientists, and social scientists to promote the representation and diversity of women in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
The primary mission of The WISE Institute is to facilitate the entry and success of women in the STEM fields in an environment promoting gender equity by: coordinating efforts throughout Penn State; creating opportunities for women of diverse backgrounds to thrive in the STEM fields; mentoring individuals; and promoting institutional and cultural change.
More information may be obtained by visiting the program's website, or by referring to the program's brochure, which also contains registration information.
