Attendance Update

In middle school, consistent attendance is more than just “showing up.” It’s the foundation for academic success and social-emotional growth. Research shows that by 6th grade, chronic absenteeism becomes a major warning sign for future performance. Every day in the classroom offers opportunities for collaboration, peer connection, and building the resilience needed for high school and beyond.

Quarter 2 Update
Our “Race to Rita’s” Attendance Initiative is in full swing, and the results are inspiring! Thanks to the partnership between Yearbook Club, the WAMS SAP Team, and Rita’s Italian Ice, students with outstanding attendance are being celebrated in a big way.

Here’s how the rewards stack up:

  • Top Tier: Rita’s gift card plus an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Rita’s store.
  • Second Tier: Three free Rita’s treats to enjoy anytime during the season.
  • Third Tier: Rita’s merchandise and a coupon for one free treat—because every day counts!

The Numbers Speak for Themselves

  • 78 students have maintained perfect attendance this quarter.
  • 87 students have only one marking on their attendance record.
  • In total, 165 students—over 25% of our middle school—are hitting the goal of one or fewer absences for Q2!

The Impact
These students aren’t just mastering academics—they’re building lifelong habits of reliability and discipline. We’re proud to celebrate their commitment and look forward to continuing this momentum throughout the year.
