The Wallenpaupack Area High School boys' and girls' cross country teams have put together strong performances this season, with both varsity squads posting 8-1 records through their first nine meets.

The Buckhorns have competed against Mid Valley, Scranton, West Scranton, Elk Lake, Montrose, Blue Ridge, Susquehanna, Mountain View and Forest City. The boys' team earned victories in eight of its nine meets, with its only loss coming against Mid Valley. The girls' team also stands at 8-1, suffering its lone defeat against Elk Lake.

The teams will host a cluster meet on Sept. 29, welcoming Abington Heights, Valley View, North Pocono, Delaware Valley and Honesdale. The event marks an important point in the season as both programs continue their push toward the postseason.

After advancing to the PIAA State Championships last year, the teams are once again setting their sights on district and state competition. As the season enters its second half, the runners will look to build on their early success and continue competing among the top teams in the region.
