   Wallenpaupack schools are once again gearing up for the Pennsylvania Governor’s School Breakfast Challenge, and this year, the team is aiming for a three‑peat victory. As our district continues its strong commitment to student wellness, nutrition, and academic success, participation in this statewide program highlights just how impactful a healthy breakfast can be for learners of all ages.

The Wallenpaupack Area School District is proud to announce that Genevieve Neenan has been featured as WVIA’s Artist of the Week, an honor that celebrates exceptional high school artists across Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. Genevieve, a gifted vocalist, has distinguished herself not only through her talent but also through her dedication to musical excellence.

Wallenpaupack North Intermediate School is proud to recognize its January Citizens of the Month, celebrating students in grades 3 through 5 who exemplify the character trait of Fairness.

Wallenpaupack Area High School delivered an outstanding performance in this year’s 2026 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, standing out among 21 participating schools across the region. Of the 133 artworks selected for recognition, an impressive 28 pieces were created by Wallenpaupack students—a remarkable achievement that reflects the talent, dedication, and artistic excellence thriving within our district.

Two Wallenpaupack Area High School seniors had the opportunity to explore careers in veterinary medicine during a job‑shadowing experience on January 14 at the Highland Veterinary Clinic in Honesdale. Seniors Gabrielle Hieber and Anthony Lin spent the day learning alongside Dr. Heather Dein, gaining firsthand insight into the daily work of a veterinarian.

Wallenpaupack is proud to announce that Freshman Emma Ey has earned a place on the 2026 U16 USA Women’s National Field Hockey Team, marking an incredible achievement for one of our standout student‑athletes.

The Veterans’ Memorial Park and Education Center Society in Matamoras has announced a special initiative to honor women veterans of Pike County and the surrounding areas. A new Women Veterans Memorial will be dedicated on June 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM, and the organization is preparing a commemorative booklet recognizing the women who have served our nation.

   Wallenpaupack South Elementary School is proud to celebrate its Good Citizens for the month of December. Students selected for this recognition demonstrate strong character and consistently contribute to a positive school community.

   The Wallenpaupack Girls Field Hockey program closed out a successful season with several athletes earning prestigious postseason honors, recognizing both their athletic excellence and academic achievement.

   Wallenpaupack Area High School’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) traveled to The University of Scranton on Friday, January 9, 2026, to compete at the Region 22 Regional Leadership Conference. Our students demonstrated outstanding professionalism, creativity, and leadership across a wide range of competitive events.

Wallenpaupack Area High School senior Kaylana Mejias recently completed a multi‑department Job Shadow experience at the Lodge at Woodloch, exploring several potential career paths as part of her Senior Project.

Wallenpaupack Area High School proudly honors Nathan Freethy as one of our Fine Arts Students of the Month for January. Nathan’s passion for the arts shines through his accomplishments in instrumental music, vocal music, and drama.

Students at Wallenpaupack Area North Primary School are celebrating an exciting academic achievement after being recognized as Prodigy Education’s December State Champions for Pennsylvania!

Wallenpaupack Area High School has introduced a new initiative called Mental Health Mondays, coordinated by Dr. Cara Dougherty and the High School Counseling Department. This program takes place during the lunch block every Monday in the cafeteria and is designed to help students develop healthy coping skills, manage stress effectively, and maintain a positive outlook.

In December, Wallenpaupack North Intermediate celebrated students who exemplify the value of acceptance—embracing differences, showing kindness, and fostering an inclusive environment.

Wallenpaupack South Elementary School is proud to feature Levi Gross, a second-grade student whose dedication and enthusiasm shine both in and out of the classroom.

Wallenpaupack Area High School proudly recognizes Jonathan Fluhr as one of our Fine Arts Students of the Month for January. Jonathan has demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication in the visual arts, excelling in acrylic painting, sculpting, and sketching.

In middle school, consistent attendance is more than just “showing up.” It’s the foundation for academic success and social-emotional growth. Research shows that by 6th grade, chronic absenteeism becomes a major warning sign for future performance. Every day in the classroom offers opportunities for collaboration, peer connection, and building the resilience needed for high school and beyond.

On November 17, 2025, ten Wallenpaupack Area High School students had the unique opportunity to visit the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) Center for Healthcare Education as part of the Health Care Career Pathways program. This initiative is designed to introduce high school students to the wide range of careers available in the healthcare field.

We are proud to announce that 22 students from Wallenpaupack Area High School’s Career and Technical Education programs represented us at the District 1 SkillsUSA competitions, held at Johnson College and Luzerne County Community College.
