The Wallenpaupack Area School District wrestling team continued its reign of dominance at the Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament, securing its third consecutive team championship in impressive fashion.

On Tuesday, December 16th, students in Miss McGinnis, Miss Rositto, Mrs. Zuclich, Mrs. Buselli, and Mrs. Stone's classes experienced a day full of joy and surprises during the annual Operation Santa event.

Volunteers from Tobyhanna Army Depot visited the school to spread holiday cheer, continuing a long-standing tradition of bringing smiles to children with special needs.

Wallenpaupack South Elementary School is proud to celebrate its November Good Citizens! These students were honored with certificates signed by their classroom teachers and Principal Mark Kirsten for demonstrating outstanding character and leadership.

   On October 28th, more than twenty Child Care Career and Technical Education students from WAHS had the opportunity to visit Marywood University’s Education Department. This engaging experience allowed students to connect with faculty and current education majors, gaining valuable insight into the wide range of programs and certifications offered at Marywood.

During the month of November, WNIS focused on the character trait of Caring—a quality that helps create a positive school climate and strengthens relationships between teachers, support staff, and students.

We are proud to share the outstanding accomplishment of Jaedyn Allen, a fifth-grade student at Wallenpaupack South Elementary School. Jaedyn recently earned 1st place in the annual Veterans Day Essay Contest sponsored by American Legion Post 859.

On December 5th, Wallenpaupack Area High School’s Protective Services Career and Technical Education (CTE) Level II students had the unique opportunity to visit the Scranton Fire and Police Department Headquarters, as well as the Scranton Training Center. This educational experience was designed to give students an inside look at the daily responsibilities and challenges faced by emergency responders.

Wallenpaupack Area High School is spreading holiday cheer through Operation ELF: Triple Holiday Challenge, an initiative designed to celebrate kindness, foster relationships, and strengthen our positive school climate.

Running from Monday, December 15 through Friday, December 19, this festive program encourages students and staff to recognize and appreciate the positive qualities in one another.

For several years, Wallenpaupack’s class leadership teams have embraced the spirit of giving by selecting organizations to support through awareness and fundraising efforts. This tradition continues with renewed enthusiasm, aiming to make this year’s campaign bigger and better than ever.

This November, Wallenpaupack North Primary School proudly recognized students who exemplify the spirit of thankfulness—those who consistently express gratitude for the people and things in their lives. These students stand out for their positive attitude and appreciation, making our school community a better place.

This November, third-grade students in Jen Valerio's class embarked on an exciting interdisciplinary project that combined math skills with creativity and historical context. As part of the Number Corner activities, students explored concepts of area, perimeter, and multiplication.

The challenge? Design a home suitable for Pilgrims using real-world math applications.

On December 3, 2025, the Wallenpaupack Area School District Board recognized three exceptional students for their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and dedication to excellence: Nathan Freethy, Any'ah Caljean, and Logan Caruso. Each student addressed the board during the public meeting, sharing their experiences and future aspirations.

On Wednesday, November 26th, Wallenpaupack Area High School celebrated its annual Turkey Trot, hosted by Student Council.

North Intermediate School’s fifth-grade ELA classes recently participated in an exciting “Book Tasting” event designed to spark curiosity and foster a love for reading. After enjoying The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco, students were encouraged to branch out and sample a variety of literary genres.

We are proud to announce that Ann Monaghan has been named PSEA’s Dolores McCracken Education Support Professional of the Year. This award is the highest honor presented by the Pennsylvania State Education Association to recognize outstanding contributions from education support professionals across the state.

Students in Mrs. Cole and Mrs. Hanor’s classes recently participated in a Fall Book Tasting, an engaging event designed to spark a love for reading. During the activity, students had the chance to “taste” a variety of book genres—many they might not have explored before.

We are thrilled to announce that Ann Monaghan, a valued member of the Wallenpaupack Area High School team, has been honored as Pennsylvania’s Education Support Professional (ESP) of the Year by the National Education Association (NEA).

To facilitate this collaboration, we’ve established the Wallenpaupack Area Vision for Education (WAVE) Fund in partnership with the Wayne County Community Foundation.

This fund creates a sustainable way for revenues generated through community partnerships and philanthropic gifts to directly support innovative programs, impactful projects, and strategic initiatives aligned with our mission.

Students from Wallenpaupack Area North Primary School had an exciting morning as they visited Wallenpaupack Area High School to watch the WAHS Junior Players’ performance of SpongeBob.

On Thursday, November 13, approximately 100 Wallenpaupack Area High School juniors participated in the annual Fall Mock Interviews event. This program is designed to help students prepare for future college admissions, employment opportunities, and even military service by simulating real-world interview experiences.

Wallenpaupack South Elementary School recently celebrated its annual Veterans Day Essay Contest, sponsored by American Legion Post 859. Fourth and fifth grade students were invited to write essays on this year’s theme: “The Importance of the American Flag.”

The Wallenpaupack Area Varsity Coed Cheerleading Team delivered an outstanding performance at the Pocono Regional Competition, held at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Competing against hundreds of teams from across the Northeast, our Bucks secured first place in their division, showcasing incredible spirit and teamwork.

The WNIS Show Choir recently showcased their talent at the annual WAHS Band & Color Guard Craft Fair on Sunday. Under the direction of Mrs. Loriann Kerber, these dedicated 5th graders practice weekly to prepare for performances throughout the year. Their hard work and enthusiasm were evident as they delivered an outstanding performance that delighted attendees.

Wallenpaupack Area Middle School kicked off an exciting new attendance initiative last week, partnering with Rita’s Italian Ice to reward students for showing up and staying engaged throughout the school year. The program, organized by the Yearbook Club and the SAP Team, is designed to make great attendance a “sweet” deal for every student.

n November 13, members of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce gathered at The Landing at Matamoras for the annual Chamber Champions Awards Dinner, an evening dedicated to honoring individuals and organizations making a positive impact in our community.  During the event, Nichole Granville, PTSA President for Wallenpaupack Area North Elementary Schools and founder of Caleb’s Pennies From Heaven, was recognized for her outstanding volunteer contributions. 

On a crisp autumn afternoon, October 28, 2025, Wallenpaupack South Elementary School celebrated its annual Red Ribbon Run, a highlight of the school’s participation in Red Ribbon Week.
