Wallenpaupack Area School District Library Services
Each of our school buildings maintains a library for student use. Additionally, each building has a full-time librarian to support students. Below is a short summary of skills that are taught within WASD libraries. For more information, please access the Curriculum Department's Courses of Study webpage.
WASD Libraries:
-
Support Literacy and Reading Development
We promote a love of reading by offering a wide range of age-appropriate books, hosting reading challenges, author visits, and book fairs. Librarians collaborate with teachers to support literacy goals and provide resources tailored to students' reading levels and interests.
-
Teach Information Literacy and Research Skills
Librarians help students learn how to find, evaluate, and use information effectively. This includes instruction on using databases, citing sources, avoiding plagiarism, and navigating digital tools—skills that are essential for academic success and responsible digital citizenship.
-
Provide Access to Technology and Learning Resources
Libraries often serve as hubs for technology, offering access to computers, tablets, printers, and educational software. At times, our librarians also support STEM initiatives, maker spaces, and digital media projects, giving students hands-on opportunities to explore and create.
