Autism Now
The National Autism Resource and Information Center is a central point of quality resources and information for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities, their families, and other targeted key stakeholders.
Autismspeaks
Autismspeaks is the nation's largest organization dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders. Many resources are available here, including toolkits that are useful for school and home. The site also features a Resource Guide with links to many locally available services.
Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health and Developmental Services
Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health and Developmental services promotes an environment where all community members receive the supports that they need to be self-sufficient and to maintain a high quality of life in a community that fosters resiliency and embraces recovery.
COMPASS (Medical Access)
COMPASS is an online tool for Pennsylvanians to apply for many health and human service programs and manage benefit information. Enrollment in Pennsylvania’s medical access program provides access to mental and behavioral health services within the community.
Council for Exceptional Children
The Council for Exceptional Children is an organization dedicated to the improvement of the educational success of individuals with disabilities. The CEC offers many services and resources, including professional development opportunities, Special Education Publications, and opportunities to attend conferences and workshops.
U.S. Department of Education
Stay up to date on Federal policies and laws that help govern and protect the rights of students, including those with disabilities.
Family Educational Rights and Privacy (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
Individuals With Disabilities Education Act
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law that makes available a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to eligible children with disabilities throughout the nation and ensures special education and related services to those children. It governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education, and related services to eligible infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities.
LD Online
LD Online seeks to help children and adults reach their full potential by providing accurate and up-to-date information and advice about learning disabilities and ADHD. The site features hundreds of helpful articles, multimedia, monthly columns by noted experts, first person essays, children's writing and artwork, a comprehensive resource guide, very active forums, and a Yellow Pages referral directory of professionals, schools, and products.
Office for Dispute Resolution
ODR provides the resources for parents and educational agencies to resolve disputes concerning the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of a free appropriate public education for students with disabilities, students who are gifted and children with disabilities served by the early intervention system.
Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania
Parent to Parent empowers and supports parents throughout the state of Pennsylvania by connecting them with families of children and adults with special needs or disabilities who’ve had similar journeys.
PaTTAN
PaTTAN (Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network) is a Pennsylvania-based organization that works with the PA Department of Education to provide assistance designed to improve student results.
Pennsylvania Department of Education
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) oversees the implementation of Public Education across the Commonwealth. Many resources are available on the site:
Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) requires that special education students be educated with their general education peers to the maximum extent possible. The least restrictive environment must be considered before moving to a more restrictive placement. Use the link to access the latest Basic Education Circular (BEC) on this topic.
The Pennsylvania Bureau of Special Education works collaboratively with educators, schools, agencies, and other stakeholders across Pennsylvania to ensure students have access to quality and meaningful education supports, services, and opportunities, and provides information regarding assessments, compliance monitoring, and data and accountability, along with other regulations and policies.
Wayne County Consortium for Early Intervention
Wayne County Consortium provides Early Intervention services for children ages 3 through 5 who qualify. This program covers all children living in the Wallenpaupack, Wayne Highlands, and Western Wayne School Districts.

Wayne County’s Office of Behavioral health is committed to providing the highest quality behavioral health care services, which are easily accessible, respectful of the individual and family, welcoming and focusing services delivery on the unique needs of each individual.
