During the week of October 15, our laptops, projectors, cameras and Promethean interactive whiteboards began to arrive.  Within a week the 376 student laptops, 37 teacher laptops, 13 laptop carts, 30 Promethean Interactive Whiteboards, 30 Mitsubishi projectors, 8 Cannon Digital Video cameras, 8 HP Digital Still cameras and 6 Logitech Web Cams were delivered to the high school.

All Classrooms for the Future equipment had to be stored until the district was scheduled for an installation team to open, test and install the interactive whiteboards.

The installation team from Pierson Consulting arrived on November 7th to open and test all computers, projectors and interactive whiteboards.  In preparation for the installation team, WASD technical and custodial staffs did a great job of preparing the classrooms.  All CFF classrooms were checked for adequate electrical power, ceiling mounts were installed, wall mounts for the whiteboards installed, and additional cabling was added to connect the boards to the projectors to the laptops.

After the installation team left, our technology specialists had the momentous task of imaging all 413 laptops to prepare this equipment to work with our district’s educational network.  The first priority was to get the teacher laptops into the hands of the teachers.  On December 21, the CFF teachers had a professional development opportunity to become familiar with their laptop’s hardware and installed applications.  After the staff development training, the teachers were able to take their laptop home with them over the Christmas break.  The key to the success of this program is not the computers – but how they are used.  Many professional opportunities are scheduled in the upcoming months.
