Choosing Keywords |
For best results, it's important to choose your keywords wisely. Keep these tips in mind:
Automatic "OR" Queries |
By default, if the input consists of more than one word or group of letters separated by a space, and includes neither an operator (OR, AND, NOT) nor quotation marks, the search-engine sets by default an "OR" in between the words. |
Order of Operation |
Keep in mind that the order in which the operators are typed will affect the search results. The "AND" and the "NOT" operators are preformed before the "OR" operators. |
Searches are NOT case sensitive |
All letters, regardless of how you type them, will be understood as lower case. For example, searches for "george washington", "George Washington", and "gEoRgE wAsHiNgToN" will all return the same results. |
The following operators are allowed: |
AND |
Means that the word (search string) following this operator has to be contained in the full text of the paper. |
OR |
Means that the word (search string) following this operator may alternatively be contained in the full text of the paper. |
NOT |
Means that the word (search string) following this operator must not be contained in the full text of the paper. |
Further important signs to be used in the full text search: |

Quotation Marks are used to embrace a group of words which should be treated as one expression. |
