"Guys Read" Marks Six Years of Success
Six years ago, at the Tunkhannock Public Library, a group of librarians, from public schools and public libraries, came together to learn how to improve literacy among boys. Among the attendees were Ms. Betty Lawson and Ms. Jean Kammer from the Wayne County Public Library System, and Ms. Caroline Romano from Wallenpaupack North Primary.
Michael Sullivan, author of several books on reading and children's books, shared some alarming statistics: seventy percent of D's and F's go to boys; eighty percent of high school dropouts are boys; and eighty percent of prison inmates are high school dropouts. More...

Kindergarten Registration - LAST CHANCE!
The deadline for registration for the 2013-14 Kindergarten class has now passed. If you still wish to register your child AND you reside within the WASD AND your child will be five (5) years old by August 31, 2013, please refer to this page for application procedures and register your child as soon as possible.

Daisy Troop 50826 Collecting Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald House
Daisy Troop 50826 will be collecting Pop Tabs until June to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Scranton. This is a worthwhile project and it benefits a great cause. Please support our Daisy Troop in their efforts. For more information, please read this announcement.

North Primary Guidance Office Resource Listing Available The Guidance Office offers a wealth of materials to parents that can be used with their children.
There are many children's books on a variety of topics, from having a new brother or sister to death, divorce and all sorts of behavioral issues.
Also in the Guidance Library are books and information about a variety of topics from AD/HD, parenting issues and behavioral, emotional, and social issues. There are DVD's, books, manuals, etc. that cover a fairly large array of topics. All items are available to be loaned out to parents looking to help their children deal with various issues or simply learn more about them.

Attendance To report a student absent, between 7:30 and 8:30 am
Please include: your name, the student's name, the date and the reason for absence. If you have children in more than one building, each building must be contacted. For more information, please see Parent/Student Handbook.
Important - Please be aware that the official opening of school is 7:50 am with classes starting at 8:10 a.m. If you choose to drive your child to school, please try to drop your child off NO EARLIER than 7:50 a.m. Also, please be aware that children arriving after 8:00 a.m.2 are marked tardy. Please accompany your student into the building, to sign him/her in, if arriving after 8:00 a.m.

Open House Video Available for Viewing If a parent was unable to attend our Open House, we have a video available to give you some valuable information regarding the North Primary policy and procedures.

Artsonia The North Primary will again be participating in Artsonia - the world's largest online art gallery. The web address is www.artsonia.com. Parents and grandparents may view their student's artwork and purchase items with their student's artwork printed on it, if desired.
