The ASVAB is Coming!

If you are in 11th or 12th grade and need some help making career decisions, then think about taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The ASVAB-Career Exploration Program can help you take steps toward finding a career that is right for you. You can benefit from the program whether you plan to pursue further education after high school or enter the work force right away. This program is designed to help you:

-Learn more about yourself and the world or work.
-Explore occupations in line with your interests and skills
-Develop an effective strategy to realize your career goals.

The ASVAB will be given at WAHS on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, with no obligation to the US Armed Services. Sign up in the Guidance Office no later than September 28th. For more information, including registration, see your Guidance Counselor

Student Ambassadors Wanted

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and personable students to apply for the Wallenpaupack Ambassador Program. This program will provide opportunities for you to develop social, communication, and leadership skills. Ambassadors will learn how to welcome guests, lead building tours, escort visitors, and present our school to the public. After you complete the application, you will be interviewed by the committee. If you are selected, you will attend and participate in leadership, service and public speaking training sessions so that you may positively represent your school.

The deadline for submitting your application is Friday, September 28, 2018. Please include both pages. Applications must be typed and submitted to or to Mrs. Edwards in the HS Main Office.

Helping PA Students Get Ready and Transition to College offers a one-stop location to help Pennsylvania school counselors, students, and parents understand and navigate the going-to-college process in Pennsylvania. Materials on the site help all students - students with learning disabilities, high performing students, student athletes, career and technical students and other students needing the best advice about the college transition. Of particular interest are the materials to help Career and Technical Education students take advantage of the free college credits awarded as part of the SOAR/Program of Study initiative from the Bureau of Career and Technical Education. combines materials created as part of contracts with Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency's Creating Postsecondary Access Grants (PHEAA - CAPS) and materials created through the Career Development Leader's Network with PA Department of Education's Bureau of Career and Technical Education. Monica McCarty, a PA school counselor and certified school psychologist was a key contributor. The website is maintained by Outreach for K-12 at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Outreach for K-12 also maintains the Toolkit for the implementation of the PA Career Education and Work Academic Standards.
